On Easter Monday, we received the sad news of the passing of Pope Francis at the age of 88.
His death will be marked throughout the archdiocese in a number of ways and all are welcome to pay tribute at all of the Masses and services listed below.

Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King
On Tuesday, the Cathedral celebrated Mass for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis. You can watch it back here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf3Le6GR7Ik
There is also a book of condolences. This will remain open until Monday evening once the Cathedral closes. Mass on Saturday will be going ahead as scheduled.
Co-cathedral of St Mary of the Isle, Isle of Man
Their Friday Mass (25 April) at 12.10pm will be celebrated for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis. This weekend, Archbishop Malcolm will also be present for jubilee celebrations, as previously planned. The Holy Father will be remembered in all of the Masses.
Sacred Heart, Chorley
On Sunday at Sacred Heart Brooke Street, Chorley, PR6 ONG, there will be a Divine Mercy service at 3pm with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the late Pope Francis. This will be followed by confessions and rosary. Mass will be at 3.35pm for the intention of Pope Francis' soul.
St Bede’s (in the parish of St Wilfrid, Widnes)
There will be a Mass for Pope Francis on Friday 25 April at 7pm.
St Mary and St Thomas of Canterbury, St Helens
They have a book of condolences open, and people also can light a candle in memory of the Holy Father. A Mass to remember Pope Francis will be held at St Mary’s (Lowe House) on Wednesday 30 April at 6pm.
Blessed English Martyrs, Haydock
A requiem Mass for His Holiness will take place on Friday 25 April at 9.30am.
St Mary and St Columba, Isle of Man
Throughout the Easter Octave, all of the Masses will be dedicated to praying for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis.
St Oswald, Old Swan
Mass for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis will be celebrated on Friday 25 April at 6.30pm.
