Records from 1850 to the present.
The Archives collects, preserves and makes available for use, records of lasting value to the Archdiocese. Our collections include the archives of St Joseph’s College, Upholland, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Catholic Pictorial, the Lourdes Pilgrimage Association and the Union of Catholic Mothers.
We can be found in the Metropolitan Cathedral on the mezzanine floor between the Cathedral and the Lutyens Crypt.
Our reading room | A facility for those who are curious about Catholic history to explore the information contained in our archives.
Depositing archives | We are happy to consider additions to our collections either from internal departments of the Archdiocese or from external organisations and individuals.
Our archives are a rich source of information for local and parish historians, teachers, writers, and academic researchers, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, and family historians.
Records may be produced for researchers under supervised conditions. Researchers who would like to explore the archives should make an appointment with our archivist.
