PART 2

Notice is given that the Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool, St Margaret Clitherow Centre, Croxteth Drive, L17 1AA intends to establish a new voluntary aided primary school under section 11 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 as amended by the Education Act 2011.

It is proposed that the school will open on 1 January 2024. The school will be situated at Snaefell Avenue, L13 7HB and Green Lane, L13 7EA in the buildings of the current St Cecilia’s Infant and Junior schools, proposed to close on 31 December 2023. The school will be expected to serve the parish of St Cecilia’s, currently served by St Cecilia’s Infant and Junior Schools.

The proposed ethos of the school is Catholic. Religious education will be provided at the school in accordance with the Catholic faith and it is confirmed that the proposer intends to ask the Secretary of State to designate the school as a school with such a religious character.

The new school will cater for 420 boys and girls, mainly of the age range 4 to 11 years and 26 FTE nursery places.

The admission number for the school on the opening date will be 60.

The admission policy will be determined in accordance with school admissions legislation and guidance from the Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool. In the event of any over-subscription, priority will be given to baptised Catholic children living in the parish of St Cecilia and baptised Catholic siblings. Looked After Children and previously Looked After Children will be given overriding priority for places. If places remain after Catholic applicants have been admitted, priority will be given to other Christian children and then children of other faiths and no faith.

No changes to travel arrangements are anticipated arising from these proposals. Liverpool City Council’s Home to School Transport Policy will be applied.

It is envisaged that any extended services currently provided on the sites of the related closing schools will continue to be provided on the site of the proposed new school.
