Governing Bodies of any school or cluster of schools are invited to identify any training needs and we will consider ways in which this can be best supported.

Tuesday, 17 April 2018 at LACE 10.00 a.m. - 12.00 noon
The session will be led by John Thornhill, National Leader of Governance and Chair of Governors at Savio Salesian College in Bootle.
This session is for Chairs and potential Chairs and studies the contribution the Chair can make to the effectiveness of the governing body.
Governing a Catholic School
Thursday, 26 April 2018 at LACE 10.00 a.m. - 12.00 noon
The session will be led by Ian Beck, School Governor Support Officer/Diocesan Schools' Officer and Chair of Governors at both Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School in Birkdale and Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Toxteth.
This session is for any governor, not just foundation governors, who seek to know more about governance in a Catholic school and the governors' duty to support the Catholic ethos.
The New Governor
Saturday, 16 June 2018 at LACE
This is a full day session, which includes lunch, for newly appointed and prospective governors. The session will be led by members of the Schools and Colleges and Christian Education Departments and will cover:
- Mission and Ethos
- Governing a Catholic School
- Responsibility for admissions, premises and staffing
- The Trust Deed, the Instrument of Government, the role of the Archbishop and Canon Law
- Ofsted and Section 48 Inspections : The role of governors
This training session is for all recently appointed governors, not just foundation governors.
It may be possible to repeat any or all of the above sessions at different venues, subject to demand.
