Salary £22,500-£25,000 per annum
Permanent, 35 hours per week
The Archdiocese of Liverpool are looking to recruit an Archivist to be based at the Metropolitan Cathedral, Liverpool.
The purpose of the role is to ensure the suitable provision, care and management of valuable and historical information relating to the Archdiocese and Catholic Church. This will be achieved by assembling and cataloguing a permanent collection for the purpose of preserving and retaining records from the past and making them available for the future.
The successful candidate will work closely with Canon Anthony O’Brien, Dean of the Cathedral, to undertake a full range of activities to include cleaning and preparing incoming documentation, supervising the work of volunteers and students on work placement, overseeing projects, organising exhibitions and talks throughout the year and to utilise the Archive Libraries and Museums (CALM) system,
The successful candidate must have;
Post graduate qualification in Archives Administration/Management or degree qualification in related studies
Experience in an archive or record office, museum or civic setting (paid or voluntary capacity)
General awareness of Roman Catholic history and commitment to preserving Catholic history
Proven ability to develop and acquire new material to enhance existing and new archive collections
Strong administrative skills with proven computer skills
Ability to work at heights and lift heavy boxes
Work with sensitivity and maintain confidentiality at all times
Possession of the following would be advantageous:
Experience of curating resources into formats suitable for exhibition
Experience of providing public engagement activities and digital, on line resources
