When the Scriptures are proclaimed in Church, God speaks to us. That is what the Church teaches, but is it what happens in your parish? Do the readers proclaim the Word confidently, so that it can speak to the hearts of the people? And do the people listen attentively, taking the Word to heart and carrying it out in the community?
If you think there is room for improvement, come and listen to Dr Marian Tolley inspiring both proclaimers and hearers of the Word this Saturday, 17 October, at St Joseph's, Penketh in Warrington. Marian has spent a lifetime studying and teaching and in recent years has focused on what it is we do when we come together to celebrate. She has developed courses for ministers of the Word and written A Handbook for Readers and A Workbook for Readers, both published by Decani.
Everyone is welcome at Saturday's event – which will run from 10am to 4pm – especially those involved in the Ministry of the Word and in Scripture reflection groups. The cost is £10. Attendees are asked to bring a packed lunch, though hot drinks will be provided. Marian has already worked in several parishes and pastoral areas across the Archdiocese, so this day gives everyone the opportunity to experience her love and enthusiasm for the Word.
