Hope Street in Liverpool came alive last Sunday as Christians gathered in a visible celebration of unity at the Two Cathedrals' Service.
Pope John Paul II visited Liverpool at Pentecost in 1982 and celebrated Mass. He processed along Hope Street and the Two Cathedrals Service has regularly taken place since that date to mark the occasion.
Proceedings began at the Anglican Cathedral and concluded at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King. Hundreds of pilgrims walked up Hope Street this year alongside Archbishop Malcolm McMahon, Bishop Richard Blackburn and other church leaders.
The walk was the culmination of a weekend of celebration and hope that took place in both cathedrals and across the city.
