St Teresa's Church Upholland recently held a successful Family Celebration Day with a sense of coming together across the generations as grandparents, young families, parishioners, friends , neighbours, and other Churches came together. There was great support for the day by way of a grant from 'Grassroots' Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside. Everyone was invited to bring a picnic but with the bouncy castle, face painting, strawberries and cream and Tea and Coffee provided free. Skelmersdale Brass Band also gave their services. The day began with open air Mass followed by a day for making memories, reminiscing of times past and meeting old friends. Children from St Teresa’s Primary School provided a selection of music from ‘Oliver’.
The day was the third one held and was the brainchild of Parish Priest Father Tony Slingo who sees the appeal as giving families time: time to be together to talk to friends you don't see, and to make connections with other families. Father Tony is proud to create that opportunity and thankful and appreciative of the support given by Grassroots and the Community Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside.
