St. Theresa’s Catholic Primary School in Sutton Manor have extended their Nursery and Reception into an outstanding Early Years base where 2,3 and 4 year olds can flourish in an exciting environment. Government Capital Grant has been used to create and furnish a beautiful outdoor play area. Children and their parents were present for the Grand Opening in March.
Father Philip Swanson, Chair of Governors, said, ‘I am delighted in having this wonderful facility to improve the life chances for all our pupils, some of whom are only two.’ Mrs. Rachael Rimmer, Headteacher and formerly Adviser for Inclusion and Achievement in St Helens, formally opened the Early Years Base. Children performed lots of songs and poetry on their newly erected outdoor stage, while all parents gathered to watch and celebrate. One parent said, ‘the new play area is fabulous and great for exploring and having fun adventures.’ Another said, ‘my son thinks the play area is special, and I think it’s important for children to have fresh air and this new equipment will mean they enjoy being out.’ Mrs Arnold, Headteacher said, ‘This new development has transformed the school, it’s a beacon of hope in the community.’
